We’ve got a lot of great things happening in our new spring issue.
I thought I’d share a rundown of some of the exciting stories we’re planning. We’re just beginning the layout phase, so I’m completing the final edits and sourcing a few remaining images. The magazine will be hitting newsstands March 20.
I found it very difficult editing the stories for our food section—my tummy kept interrupting me. Writer Valerie Mansour explores designer tea infusions and how many chefs in Atlantic Canada are using tea in the kitchen. Watch for some great recipes. Pictured above is chef Bee Choo Char from Gio Restaurant in Halifax, putting the finishing touches on her recipe for crusted duck breast with jasmine tea and thyme. Dennis Evans snapped this photo.
Our renovation feature profiles a dynamic space in Saint John, New Brunswick. I love how it’s an older heritage home on the outside but inside homeowner Judith Mackin transformed the space using a modern décor scheme that’s mostly black and white, with hits of colour coming from her collection of stunning contemporary artwork. Mark Hemmings shot the photo above for our story.
Our décor section features a primer of this season’s top design trends. Writer Christina Copp gives a rundown of hot colour choices, accessory ideas and much more. The trend of using natural décor elements and themes (like bird motifs) is still alive and kicking—pictured here is Birdseye wall décor by Umbra. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming days.
