Here’s a fun example of functional design that I adore.

My friends Amity and Mike live in a gorgeous farmhouse. Over the past six years, they have tackled a series of renovations and have put their own personal touch on the décor of their home. I enjoy following Amity’s renovation updates. Their most recent project, their daughter’s bedroom, has really caught my attention. In one corner of the room, they’ve built shelving to display their daughter’s books and created a lovely reading nook. “Reading is so important to me. I really wanted a spot where the books are displayed in an easily accessible way, plus it makes for quick tidying at night,” says Amity.

What do you think? Is this something you’d try?
