Summer magazine preview

What’s coming up in our Summer Issue

Our Summer Issue will be hitting newsstands the week of June 18. Our cover story tells the building story of a unique seaside home in Marriott’s Cove, Nova Scotia. Homeowner Rowena Nunn decorated her house with creative flair and a passion for showcasing talented artists and craftspeople in her community.

Here’s a shot of the downstairs family room. I love the crisp white batten walls and the playful nautical accessories.

Rowena’s kids take a plunge off the wharf in front of their home. Both photos by James Ingram.

In our décor section, we’re featuring a story on DIY furniture restoration. We speak with some of Atlantic Canada’s top DIYers and learn easy tips for breathing new life into dated furniture—often with just a fresh coat of paint. Photo by Kelty Druet.

In our Eating In section, we feature a story on seafood—how to try lesser-known varieties with flavourful recipes from top East Coast chefs. This photo by Riley Smith shows some of the fresh ingredients going into chef Luis Clavel’s recipe for Coconut and Blueberry Ceviche.

Our story on summer salads show how you can put summer’s veggie and herb bounty to excellent use. We look back at a shoot that happened on a rooftop garden in Halifax last summer with chef Chris Velden. Photo by James Ingram.

This is just a little taste of what’s to come—stay tuned for more updates next week.
