Out of the blue foyer

Evandra Panych mixes modern and traditional looks in her entryway design. “The tile painting is quite modern, which I like paired with the traditional console,” she says. She also played with textures, with rustic baskets working alongside the polished glass vases. Hardcover books are fun accent pieces, giving height to the look. The blue wall provides a bold hit of colour that contrasts the wood textures in the space. “For a small entryway, a vibrant colour works well,” says Panych.

Paint colour “Rich Navy” from CIL. Console, lamp, painting, chair, jute rug and clear vase all from Wicker Emporium, large basket from Ikea, white vase from HomeSense, smaller baskets Panych’s own.

Tip: If your entryway will see a lot of traffic, opt for a textured rug, like jute, which will hide dirt. The hint of blue in this rug links back to the wall colour, even though it’s not the same hue.
