Inspired by the ocean for their Dine By Design East space, the duo will be creating a gorgeous dining room titled “Be Home for Dinner” that features an intriguing glass light fixture as its dramatic focal point.

“It has watery glass globes nestled in a wire cage is reminiscent of  the “fishing glass floats” that were first produced in Norway in the 1840s,” they say. “The fixture pays homage to our Maritime heritage.” Other inspirations for their space include paintings by local artists Ineke Graham (middle image, available at Studio 21) and Lorena Ziraldo (far right, available at Secord Gallery).

Jane Wright, owner of Jane’s Next Door, is matched with Tracy and Jennifer, and will be creating a special menu inspired by the room. It’s fabulous to have Jane back again this year—she wowed us all at last year’s event with her fabulous creations (pictured here is her “Vegan Chocoate Mousse spoons”).

These days, Jane likes to introduce herself as the grandmother of EDNA, her daughter Jenna’s new restaurant in Halifax. The former restaurateur from Jane’s on the Common now runs Jane’s Next Door, a small retail take-away food shop and catering business located next door to EDNA on Gottingen Street. I can’t wait to see what recipes she comes up with for this year’s Gala!
