Hand-forged wrought iron gates (custom built by Cape Breton blacksmith Grant Haverstock of Firehouse Ironworks) led the way into elegant garden terrace designed by Janice Bates-Hawkins.

“It’s an outdoor terrace buffet with an open room that has beautiful tiles,” says Bates-Hawkins, owner of Signature Design in Halifax. “It’s a little space where you can serve yourself and then walk through the arched garden path to the tables beyond.”

Bates-Hawkins custom-designed the glass dining table, which features chrome trestle legs. The wood cut-out wall hanging, the antique trough filled with hydrangeas, the honed granite tiles and the moss clusters all add texture in the space.

The wall mural is the focal point, with soft outdoor lights on the columns and strands of twinkling lights creating an open, airy space. Garden Party chef match: Robert Reynolds of Edna.
