Our new summer issue will be hitting newsstands across Atlantic Canada next week.

Our new cover features the spectacular sunroom of the Bonnell vacation homestead in Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island. In this shot, Heather Bonnell Gosse and Richard Gosse are relaxing in the laid back, beachy space that’s attached to the main home via breezeway. (Photography by Stephen Harris, design by Gwen North, art direction by Janice Hudson).

sum-cover-webIn our cover story, Island writer Mary MacKay explores how the Bonnell family moved from an old farmhouse into this sleek new cottage, creating a summery retreat for all seasons. They partnered with local architect Lorin Brehaut of Studio Brehaut Architecture for the project. Brehaut designed the sunroom with gorgeous transom windows to showcase the incredible views of the Murray River and the Murray Islands beyond. (Click here for another look at this beautiful home on the water).

Some notes on the décor: The walls feature whitewashed pine; homeowner Cathy Lumsden Bonnell sourced the indoor-outdoor furniture from Home Outfitters. The transom windows sport Levelor blinds from House of Excellence.

Subscribers in Atlantic Canada should be receiving their copies of the new magazine in the mail next week; copies will be appearing in select newspapers across the region (on June 15 for The Chronicle Herald, Times & Transcript, Telegraph-Journal and The Daily Gleaner; June 20/21 for The Western Star, The Telegram; and June 20 for The Guardian). Magazines are also available at local bookstores, Shoppers Drug Mart, Lawton’s and Superstores. To ensure you receive a copy of the magazine, please consider becoming a subscriber.

In the meantime, let me know what you think of our new cover!
