Brown Sugar Caramel Sauce

This recipe comes from Stacey O’Toole, who partook in Megan McCarthy’s cookie swap. You may want to double the recipe since it’s so good.

Ingredients:

  • 2/3 cup (165 g) packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (55 g) unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup (75 ml) whipping cream
  • 1 Tbsp (15 ml) brandy or rum (optional)
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions:

  1. Place all the ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stirring constantly to ensure that all the sugar melts, bring the mixture to a boil, then remove from heat.
  3. Serve with gingerbread.
