This martini recipe landed in my inbox the other day from the folks at Iceberg Vodka.

What makes this vodka really cool is that it’s made with water from actual Newfoundland icebergs, which apparently gives it a very pure, clean taste. Newfoundland is the only place for harvesting icebergs in Canada, making it a niche industry in the province. Ice fisherman harvest small chunks of icebergs, producing about 200,000 cases of vodka, as well as gin, rum, water and beer.

This particular vodka drinks well on its own (purists sip it straight, poured from a bottle stored in the freezer) but it also makes great martinis. This recipe seems perfect for a holiday party. Enjoy!

Classic Candy Cane Martini

  • ½  oz  Chilled (between 5 and 7 degrees) Iceberg vodka
  • ½ oz –1tsp vanilla flavored liqueur
  • ½ oz – 1 tsp peppermint schnapps
  • 1 oz club soda
  • ice
  • crushed candy canes to rim glass
  • 1-2 drops of food coloring in either green or red for effect (optional).

Directions
Put some ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour in Iceberg vodka, peppermint schnapps and club soda. Shake the shaker vigorously then pour contents into a martini glass rimmed with crushed candy canes. Insert small candy cane for garnish (optional) and serve.
