Apparently honeysuckle is the new it colour for 2011.
Pantone just named it the colour of the year, building on the trend for bold and bright colours (last year it was turquoise). A company spokesperson says honeysuckle is a stimulating and captivating colour that will lift the spirit in times of stress—“perfect to ward off the blues.”
Pink can be really divisive (our publisher affirmed today that she absolutely despises it), but there is a diverse range of tones to choose from in paint, fabrics and patterns. I have featured below the “majestic” wallpaper pattern from Graham & Brown, which seems quite classy. I don’t mind the perkier pinks at all, though I know they can be a bit loud and princessy for some tastes.
If you’re thinking of using pink in your décor, you might bring in the tone with a few toss cushions or other smaller accessories. Deeper shades of fuchsia might be less alarming than full-on bright pink.
The pink trend is also carrying over into the garden—look for an abundance of pink flowers like petunias, geraniums and snapdragons. The photo I have below is of an “angelface pink” snapdragon by Proven Winners.
What do you think of pink? Will you be using it in your home or garden this year?
