Now that it appears we’re destined for a somewhat sunny holiday weekend, I thought it would be fun to share a few patio items I’ve been eyeing this season.
I thought I’d start off with my dream outdoor table and chair set by Barlow Tyrie from Attica (its on Barrington St. in Halifax and on Freshwater Rd. in St. John’s). The chair arms are made of sustainable teak and the chair material is mildew resistant. Very chic.
These are sea blue indoor/outdoor votives handcrafted by Prince Edward Island glass artisan Marcela Rosemberg.
I have also included a second photo of a new collection of votives she’s just designed for this summer—I couldn’t decide between the two.
For something a bit more rustic, I like these funky fire pots from Harvest Décor in Kentville, N.S. The fuel they burn is actually made from rotten fruit and old wine (but you should always finish your wine!).
Just the other day I discovered these interesting toss cushions made of old sail material at Oddjects in downtown Halifax (watch for a special blog post in the next week or so about this funky store). Called flag pillows, they are designed by the Windbag Company of Nova Scotia. The pillows depict the different Maritime flag signals ships use to communicate at sea. I think they’d be perfect in a cottage that has a nautical theme.
