Some behind-the-scenes shots from our recent “festive table settings” photo shoot in Halifax.
On Wednesday, we held a photo shoot for an upcoming décor story we’re doing on festive table settings. We took over a corner of Attica Furnishings in downtown Halifax and photographer Andrew Chow took the photos.
I had local designers and décor stores take on each theme. Thornbloom took on the sparkly/glamorous look. Modern/classic went to Attica. Decorator Eileen Crowley Couse of Emerald Interiors provided the rustic/nature-inspired theme and Michele Muir of Silk Purse Décor created the retro/vintage look. It was a really fun scene, with everyone bringing in their dishes, glassware, unique centrepiece ideas and fun accessories.
The Thornbloom team sets up their fancy dishes and glassware. Love those purple and cream ornaments.
Michele Muir and Suzanne Saul (co-owner of Attica) survey the scene. The second storey of the store was an awesome location–lots of nice natural light streaming in through the big windows.
That’s me on the left, Michele on the top and East Coast Living’s graphic designer Gwen North trying to smooth out the wrinkles for Michele’s retro-inspired place setting. Well worth the effort!
Andrew prepares to take a shot of Eileen’s rustic/nature-themed spread. We must have spent about an hour total propping up Eileen’s squirrel place card holder (you can see his tail just to the left of the candle). But he was SO cute and it will be so worth it, trust me!
Another view of the action for Eileen’s place setting. That’s Eileen in the middle with Sarah Jones, who lent her art directing expertise to the planning, in red on the right. The entire story with finished photos from Andrew will be appearing in our upcoming Winter Issue, which comes out on November 27.
