Our new cover showcases Christopher Murphy and Christy Bussey chilling out in the dining room of their mid-century home in North End Halifax. Photo by Bruce Murray of VisionFire.
I love how this shot showcases local artwork, vintage furniture, and modern lighting in a fresh, bold way. The large painting behind Christy (called Path to the Pond) is by Halifax artist Shelley Mitchell, from Teichert Gallery in Halifax; the painting on the far left is by Halifax artist Paul Hannon.
The couple transformed their home’s interior with help from Halifax design consultant Sappho Griffin of Henhouse. It’s hard to see in this photo, but Christy and Christopher are sitting on vintage chairs that Griffin reupholstered in a fun retro-inspired fabric from Bellissimo in Halifax. Light fixture from Attica in Halifax, window fabric from Tonic Living. Knotted bowl from Nature’s Threads in Twillingate, N.L.
Kim Hart Macneill’s story on their inspiring home charts the entire project, including how Sappho helped Christy and Christopher find common ground in the face of their contrasting décor tastes. You’re going to love reading about how everything came together.
